Installation

Instructions for Installing BSEED Wiring Accessories

Please read these instructions carefully before commencing any electrical work and retain them for future reference. The product should be installed according to the current edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations. If in doubt, consult a qualified electrician.

1. Remove the front plate by inserting the tip of a screwdriver into the short slots as shown in the relevant diagram. Apply gentle pressure and twist the screwdriver one-quarter turn to lift out switch assembly.

2. Always SWITCH OFF the main supply and remove the appropriate fuse or SWITCH OFF the appropriate circuit breaker before beginning electrical work. Use an electrical tester to ensure safety.

3. Always use a cable of the correct rating and type.

4. Check the location of terminal connections carefully before wiring, since the layout of the terminals may be different between fittings.

5. Make electrical connections in accordance with the relevant diagram. Ensure no bare wires protrude from the terminals.

6. If the product has an earth terminal, connect the fixed earth wire to it and then connect a short length of wire from the earth terminal on the product to the earth terminal on the wall box. The earth wire should be sheathed with green and yellow sleeving.

7. Screw the product to a wall using the fixing screws supplied.

8. Push the front plate into place carefully, pressing gently on each side to ensure the front plate has engaged with the clips on the switch assembly.

9. SWITCH ON the main supply or the appropriate circuit breaker before use.

WARNING: Do not apply a product with metal front plate directly to freshly plastered or damp surface as the product may tarnish. If in doubt, use polyethene as a temporary gasket to protect the product. Do not use masking tape on the metal front plate.

Remove Front Plate

Place the tip of a screwdriver into the short slots on either side of the product (adjacent to the wall) and gently rotate the screwdriver until the clips release the front plate.

1-Way Switch / Bell Push

1-way switching is used in an installation that requires just one switch to control a light (or circuit) i.e. on or off.

The 2-way switch can be used for the one-way connection, use L1 and L2 terminals. For multiple gang switches, repeat wiring method for each switch.

Bell Push is a 1-way switch with a retractive rocker switch. Before installing, ensure a belt unit is suitable for the supply voltage.

All earth wires must be sleeved and terminated to the back box

2-Way Switches / Intermediate Switch

2-way switching is used where a light is controlled by two switches. For multiple gang switches, repeat wiring method for each switch.

Intermediate switching is used in installations that require three or more switches to control a light, and should be used together with two 2-way switches.

Maintenance

To reduce the possibility of discolouration of the front plate edges due to natural moisture in some wall finishes, it is essential to fit gasket between the product and wall.

To keep the finish of the product, wipe over with a soft dry cloth periodically. All decorative products MUST have an earth connection between the front plate and back box.
